Basic Firearms Maintenance and Safety Course · Half-Day Instruction (4 hours)

Led by Tyler Corns, a 10-year full-time gunsmith with FFL oversight experience across 10 licensed dealers (A.A.S. Computer Integrated Machining & A.A.S. Gunsmithing). This hands-on course covers everything a new firearms owner needs — from safety fundamentals and legal overview to field stripping, cleaning, and reassembly.

9:35 AM — Types of firearms, actions & calibers; NFA overview
10:05 AM — Tools, cleaning supplies & solvents
10:20 AM — Handgun/Rifle field stripping & post-disassembly inspection
11:00 AM — Rifle maintenance
11:25 AM — Cleaning, inspection & lubrication
11:55 AM — Function check & cycle of operation (8 steps)
12:15 AM — Reassembly & hands-on practice
12:45 AM — Legal overview — federal age requirements & ownership

What to Bring

Eye and hearing protection required. Avoid low-cut shirts and open-toed shoes. Students are encouraged to bring their personal firearms (unloaded) if desired.
