Asymmetrical Gunfighter Course 12-13DEC

Course Description:
The Asymmetrical Gunfighter Course is an intermediate pistol and carbine class built around the ever-changing contingencies of a real gunfight. Run over two days at Swamp Tactical Training Center's 283-acre live-fire complex, the course sharpens tactical pistol and rifle skills in daylight conditions — from stationary and moving positions to shooting in and around vehicles.

Performance Objectives:
By course completion, students will be able to:

• Verbally articulate course-specific knowledge on demand.
• Demonstrate proper strong- and support-side shooting positions with both pistol and rifle.
• Engage a variety of targets during graded, timed shooting iterations with pistol and rifle, achieving a passing score of 70%.

Method of Evaluation:
Students are evaluated through verbal knowledge checks and practical, timed shooting drills performed from multiple positions against a variety of targets.

Method of Instruction:
Instructors use a crawl-walk-run progression throughout the two-day course, demonstrating each drill live before students participate. Walkthroughs and dry runs precede every live-fire iteration.

Round Count:

• Day One: 780 rounds — M4
• Day Two: 210 rounds — M4 / 650 rounds — Pistol

Student Equipment Requirements:

• M4 carbine with optic, back-up iron sights, sling, white light and laser (if applicable)
• 4x M4 magazines
• Pistol with iron sights
• 4x pistol magazines
• Battle or combat belt with holster and pistol magazine holder
• Body armor
• Helmet
• Gloves
• Knee pads
• Eye protection
• Clothing: long sleeve top and bottom; appropriate gear for inclement weather
• Pen & paper

Range/Facility Supplies:

• 25m and 100m range
• 8x steel targets
• 12–24 target stands
• 4–6 barricades (any style)
• 3–4 vehicles capable of being placed in neutral and taking live fire (windshields, etc.)
